The Bees Knees

Where did that saying come from?

'The bee's knees' is one of the phrases that people seem determined to make sense of. But how much sense is there to find? Not much apparently, as it has been associated with the body part of a bee that collects the pollen from flowers, the old time flapper dancers of the 1920's and a whole bunch of other stuff in between.  No one seems sure as to where the saying originated at all.
What we do know is that bees are beautiful and helpful and necessary for our existence and so most now associate the "Bees Knees" with something special and delightful and wonderful.

The image above is of a honeybee gathering pollen from one of our wild plum trees on the lake bank. We have been making plum jam and jelly from whatever is left after the critters have their fill.

Happy Spring, I hope it's the Bees Knees for you!
