A Look Back

Sometimes parting with my vintage collections is not easy.  Even though most have been purchased with the idea of selling them, I occasionally get attached to an item and am sorry to see it go.

I decided to take a look back at a few of my favorite items that sold last year.
They are all now in their happy, new homes.

Pink Rosina Teacup

Pink Sleigh Planter

Alice in Wonderland Paint Set

Little Brown Bear on Log Planter

Miss Sniff

Puff the Blue Kitten

Red Cat Matchbox Holder

The Sleeping Fairy

The Squirrel on the Log planter

And my all time favorites!
The Cats in Hats framed prints!

Here I have digitally cleaned them up and want to share them with you!
Right click on image and click 'save image as' to download.

I've also included a bit about the meaning of the flowers they wear.

Rose
The meaning of a pink rose: Grace, gladness, joy, perfect happiness, please believe me, gratitude, admiration, gentility.

Violet
The meaning of the violet: Thoughts of you, blue love.

Hope
The meaning of the forget-me-not: True love, hope, remembrance, memories.

Pansy
The meaning of the pansy: Recipient is being thought about, loyalty. The flower's name comes from the French word pensée which means thought or remembrance. Because pansies often have three colors in one blossom, they have been symbolic of the Trinity.

I hope you enjoyed my look back at some of these cute vintage items.
Have there been any items that you have parted with that you
wish you could have back?

One Last Gift from the Garden

My garden decided to give me a gift before going to sleep for the winter.

It came from my lovely Hansa rose. At the very top of the bush on some new growth, a cluster of roses formed.  I noticed it last week and thought how pretty but lonely they looked up there.  After hearing the forecast for the weekend, I decided to cut the little cluster off of the mother plant.

I pampered them and babied them for a few days and photographed them from every angle so I would remember this October gift.  I wish I could have captured their scent too.

"With its leaves so rich and heavy with elation
and its crimson face made brighter with visions of divinity
the shadow of a certain rose looks just like an angel eating light."

Aberjhani, Visions of a Skylark Dressed in Black

The seasons are in a hurry to catch up and we have had below average temperatures all week.  I have hurriedly unpacked my sweaters and fleece in preparation for what is to come!  Tiny snow flakes have been flying around and landing on the backs of my black cats! Dot especially dislikes the cold weather.

My first pumpkin pies have come out of the oven this week and I have seen the Junco birds in the yard! These are all sure signs that Autumn is half-way over and Winter may be arriving early!

Stay warm my friends! ~~ Diane

Pink Petula . . .

This is the darling painting that I won from a dear Canadian blogger named Stacy. This cute little crow dressed in pink arrived with no name, but after some thought I decided that Petula suited her just fine, and Pink Petula is even better. Seeing how Stacy painted her in pastels and hues of pinks and purples, I used this as my inspiration for today's post.

Pink Petula

I started thinking about the color scheme of pink for Christmas and found some wonderful and equally cute items to add here for your enjoyment.  But first here is a photo of Petula settled in amongst some of my other Christmas items in my dining room hutch. I think she looks right at home!  My Shawnee Puss N' Boots Kitty has her winter hat on and looks as though she must be singing a Christmas carol, Petula is ready to burst into song any moment! Thank you Stacy! Your little crow has added some fun to my decor. Every time I see her, I smile!

Sweetheart Snowgirl

My handmade projects seem to be almost non-existent lately! I wanted to show you a special item I made for a friend, just so you know I haven't stopped crafting altogether. This is a Paper Mache Snowman , make that a Snowgirl. I always seem to forget to take the pictures until they are almost done. In the picture below she has been painted and glittered and is now drying.

Cute, but plain. She needs accessories!

I then added a Valentine Bouquet of faux flowers and hearts, a ribbon scarf and fuzzy hat. The buttons are actually old earrings that I removed from their clips. A little paper ribbon for a belt and she is ready for her Valentine debut.

A Splendid Sunrise

A splendid sunrise to start the day. These colors only lasted about
fifteen minutes and then they were gone.

It's Almost Christmas!

Can you feel the anticipation?
These special moments and celebrations are what we humans are all about. We love the ceremony and the traditions that connect us to the past and pull us into the future. So here we are on the threshold of another Christmas and then another new year. I hope we can all savor and enjoy this precious time with family and friends as the year comes to a close.

I'm sharing just a few more pictures of some of my favorite
Christmas images and some from Flickr friends.

Thank you dear readers for following me along this first year.
