Happy May Your Easter Be

Hi Friends! Happy Easter ~ Spring to you!

Our weather is warming nicely but still no flowers to share just yet. Instead I thought I would share some vintage postcards with you today. If you thought my blog post title sounds a bit like backward speak you may be correct! Actually I took it from the card below, the sweet sheep grazing in the pasture above the greeting, "Happy May Your Easter Be".

I included some bunnies and Easter Gnomes just for fun! Hope you enjoy them and they bring a smile to your sweet faces!

My husband and I have been well and both of us have now received our first Covid vaccines. Ron gets his second vaccine soon and I will get mine at the end of the month. I've just heard that the Pfizer vaccine is good for about 6 months. Guess we will be spending more time at medical clinics than we would like. We are still wearing our masks etc. though as variants are still spreading and all the states around us have ditched their mask requirements.

This Easter I am very thankful that we have made it through this. I remember last year at this time I was very worried about all of it. I hope you are all well and are able to enjoy this beautiful time of year. Happy Spring and if you celebrate, Happy Easter as well.

Hugs, from Diane and Guy🐤🐥💕

March into Spring!

March, in like a lamb, out like a lion! That saying seems so true as we saw warmer temperatures at the beginning of the month take a dive and now more snow is in the forecast!  You'll really need to cuddle up close to someone to stay warm, just like the bunny and duck below!

The Golden Egg Book was written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Lilian Obligado. Vintage 1962 publication by Golden Press, NY. A Little Golden Book.

I'm sharing some cheerful Spring and Easter images with you today. The books and the basket of chicks are available in my Etsy shop.  Click on the links if you are interested in finding out more about them.

These vintage wind-up Peek-A-Boo Chicks are simply adorable! As with many of the old wind-up toys, they don't work all the time, but they're still very cute!

The Fuzzy Duckling is a Big Golden Book. One morning the fuzzy duckling goes for a walk and meets a variety of animals along the way.  In the photo above he meets up with some lambs. Gorgeous illustrations on every page! Vintage hardcover book measures 12 1/4" x 9 1/4", great images for framing!

My house is finally decorated for Spring and Easter, even though today we are having a snowstorm! But that's the way it is here in Minnesota, and I have to remind myself that just a few years ago we had a huge snowstorm in early May!

I love these large milk chocolate eggs I found at Costco.  My husband could hardly wait until I finally let him have one after I was done taking pictures!  The bowl is vintage, I inherited it from my Mom and it was a gift to her from an Aunt, so it must be over 50 years old. The music box chick is a newer piece.

I hadn't purchased chocolate bunnies for years, but couldn't resist these cuties in their bright packaging.  The tablecloth is a vintage hand embroidered piece, I purchased it from an Etsy shop several years ago.

And finally, one of my new favorites, this is a vintage hand embroidered table-runner. I am in love with this sweet little duck! My husband found this at an estate sale and knew I would like it!

I wish you all a Happy Spring and a Joyous Easter....

Oh, and if you live in a climate like mine
you shouldn't have any trouble finding those hidden Easter Eggs.

Just follow the Bunny tracks in the snow!

Remembering Balisha~Patricia

Balisha~Patricia

Sometimes bad things happen to good people.  Such was the case with a good blogging friend by the name of Patricia.  We didn't always know her real name. Her blog was called Simply Balisha. Only recently did she tell us that her name was Patricia and that the nickname Balisha was given to her by her husband who rhymed it with her real name.

Of course during that time I had always mispronounced it in my head as Ba-leeesha.  So when she told us her real name it took me a bit to adjust. She was telling us this to prepare us for what was just the beginning of a huge change to come in Balisha~Patricia's life and everyone who knew her.  She told us that she had terminal cancer. Through the tears and words that we her blogging friends shared and the back and forth messages, she left us with a wonderful gift.

It was one of her favorite gifts, the gift of words. Patricia was an inspirational writer, a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  In her blog she shared all of those things with us.  She spoke of her craft projects and cooking, of helping friends and learning new things.  She was a dear sweet woman who was taken too soon away from her family and friends. Patricia was a very strong woman with a deep Christian faith and I find this a fitting time to remember her on one of her favorite holidays, Easter. Below, you will find the words she left for us in the form of a poem.

Morning...by Balisha

Waking up this morning....I'm in my cozy bed,
I heard a birdie singing and this is what he said...
"Good morning dear Balisha...I'm visiting from above,
The skies are clear and beautiful and I am full of love.
I came so early to cheer you up and make you feel OK..
Some other friends are here with me and this is what they say"..
The little wren (my favorite) brings songs so full of joy...
The robin with his winter coat....is being oh so coy..
The black bird on the wire....is too shy to come down..
He squawks his message from above..his face is in a frown.
The chipmunk  out of hiding he gives his little grin...
The possum shyly gives a smile....and turns to go back in.
The sun is  up ... gives me a nod  and stops to say hello..
A sunny day is what we need to warm us down below.
I turn toward the downy bed to rest a little more...
All is well today... a good day is in store.

Even though we never set eyes on each other, I felt a connection to her as I do with many of my other blogging friends.  For a long time she was one of the first people to arrive at my blog after I posted something new. I miss her.  That was the last poem Patricia posted on her blog and within a few short days, she was gone.

Happy Easter Balisha~Patricia
May the stars shine bright where you are...

Happy Easter and Happy Spring
to all my dear blogging friends.
At this time of rebirth and renewal I wish you all peace.

Overwhelmed With Cuteness

We're having snow today and rain and sneet (snow and sleet), ......*Big Sigh*...; Anyway, I thought more cute was in order to get us through the rest of the week.  So here goes.... first a cute image from one of my vintage books.  The story is familiar but the illustrations are just adorable and over the top cute.

The book is Peter Rabbit retold by Wallace C. Wadsworth
and illustrated by Anne Sellers Leaf. The book was published in 1953.

The rest of the images are from Pinterest.

Omg, overwhelmed with cuteness

All listened intensely as Fuzzy Paws spoke of the time he found the gate to the carrot farm left wide open :)

The Lamb

Spring is here at last! While we still have a bit of a nip in the air, at least the signs of spring are all around.  The ice is off the lake, the grass is starting to green up and assorted ducks and geese have started looking for nesting areas.

I was deciding which spring cuteness I would feature today and was thinking about lambs. I remembered that tucked in a closet, there was a tiny child sized suitcase that has been with me as long as I can remember.

My little suitcase is a bit battered and worn, but I still think the image is adorable.  I still remember packing my toothbrush and PJ's for a overnight stay at my Grandmother's house in town.  I think for a while when I got a bit older it held assorted Barbie and Skipper dolls and all their paraphernalia.

Sorry, getting off track, back to lambs. Since Easter is almost here I thought I would share a few vintage images that include lambs and a few other spring lovelies.

Before I do, here is a delightful and very appropriate poem for Easter.

The Lamb

Little Lamb who made thee
Dost thou know who made thee?

Gave thee life and bid thee feed
By the stream and o'er the mead
Gave thee clothing of delight
Softest clothing wooly bright
Gave thee such a tender voice
Making all the vales rejoice!

Little Lamb who made thee
Dost thou know who made thee?

Little Lamb I'll tell thee!

He is called by thy name,
For he calls himself a Lamb;
He is meek and he is mild,
He became a little child
I a child and thou a lamb,
We are called by his name.

Little Lamb God bless thee.

Thank you for taking the time to visit!
