Summer Fun?

June and July so far....

Trip out of state to visit family. Fun in South Dakota? You decide.

Husband had medical test way on the other side of the Twin Cities. Test was inconclusive. Thank the Government for Medicare, which paid for most of it. Dr. wants to know if husband wants to try test again. Ugh no, maybe next year?

Our house is showing its age. 60 year old house had leaking shower faucet. Plumber came in and fixed. Husband doing tile patch. House in disarray because had to take out linen closet shelf to access pipes, guest room bed covered with stuff from linen closet.

Cat decided to puke on guest room quilt, he kindly did not puke on all the stuff on the bed from the linen closet. All must be cleaned and put away soon because a house guest will be here in a week!

New(?) internet router from Centurylink was installed last year. It gave out just over a month ago and they sent a replacement which just broke the other day. Waiting for another replacement. Asking husband why we don't just buy our own router...

Big windy storm came through the neighborhood and knocked down a neighbors tree which fell across the street. The city took care of it quickly. They did turn off the power for a few hours, thankfully it was a cooler day. Wind also bent down limbs on our trees so our satellite dish wasn't working. Husband had to cut off a few small limbs (of trees) so we could get reception. No internet, no Roku or streaming TV, going through withdrawal because most network TV is crap.

I did figure out how to use my phone as a hotspot to post to the blog. It took me awhile to get it to work as the directions were not really even correct for my setup. But hey I'm my own tech person so I persevered!

Husband working on finishing up tile in shower area. House still a mess. Don't care, going out to sit with cat and get some fresh air and it's only 85 degrees at 11 AM. Hotter days ahead! WooHoo!

I've had my fun ranting, but seriously, we don't have it too bad. All you have to do is watch the news and understand how lucky we really are.

How's your summer going?

Peace, Love and Cat Hugs,

Diane & Guy

  1. Man, I think I have MY hands full with HRH, but at least she's not around to PUKE on the bed like Guy Noir. Although in her day, she did a lot of puking up hairballs, believe you me.

I hope whatever your husband's being tested for does not prove to be too serious or, if not, then at least at a very, very early stage.

My summer is proving to be a quiet one, but that's fine with me. This week the weather has finally turned hot but still, it's not the weeks of hot weather we had last summer. That's fine with me too.

Your plants look very green and lush. I trust they are all legal.

  2. View of plants is from the backyard next to the lake and things get a bit wild out there, who knows what is lurking amongst the lilies!! LOL! Hubs is doing well and Guy visited the vet and is the only member of the family that wasn't told to lose weight! Glad you're having a peaceful and quiet summer Debra. Thanks for stopping in. ✨😍

  3. Sounds like you've had a lot on your plate! I hope all goes well with your husband. This has been a very balanced summer for us. Busy enough to keep us from being bored and quiet enough to find time to relax. And we haven't had a major heat wave...yet...which suits me just fine! Have a lovely rest of the weekend.

    1. Hi Martha, so nice to hear from you! Sounds like you've been having a nice time catching up with friends and relatives this summer. We've done a bit of that, but things still don't seem quite back to normal. Even now Covid is making a comeback in our area and we still wear masks in crowded indoor areas. It seems that still people don't realize that the variants will continue because so many never got the vaccine and/or are not continuing with the boosters. The anti-science, anti-vax people have such loud voices, they are confusing people.

My two favourite seasons are Spring and Autumn ... so roll-on Autumn please.
Our weather here in the UK is currently HOT, but we are able to enjoy some delicious summer salads :)

    All the best Jan

    1. Thanks for the well wishes Jan! I feel for you over there in the UK with the hot temps, I know many of you don't have air conditioning. I appreciate your blog so much, I'm always looking for another cool salad to have on hand for these very hot days where I don't want to turn on the stove or oven! Today it is broccoli, bacon, and cheddar salad. I also add chopped onion and a splash of org cider apple vinegar, 1 packet of Truvia (sugar sub), and some avocado oil mayo. Cheers!
