The Dream of Flying

Have you ever had that dream?  The one where you can fly? It's been years since I've had that dream, yet I can still somewhat recall the feeling. It was total freedom.  When I looked at my kitty Guy the other day, I couldn't help but think that he was having that dream.  As only kitties can have, a dream of flying up in the sky where those birds are, just out of reach!

"I is flying...." zzzzzzzz

To accompany this post, I chose an appropriate piece of music.  The second song on the play list today is called "Dream of Flying", by Brian Crain. I've added a few assorted images which are mostly cat pictures.  Actually I'm showing these out of order, the cat nap occurred after the time spent outside.

It started like this......

 Guy said, "Whatcha doin MOM?"

"Go Away, You're Scaring Away the Chipmunks!", Guy said with exuberance!

"MOM!" Close up of the mouth!! He talks all the time!

"I is the Black Lion King!", says Guy  .... with extra floofy fur!

Dot, thinking, "What is that stupid Fairy up to?" Yes, Dot that is the fairy garden...

Dot, "What's outside the fence! It's OK, mom keeps us safe."

A blue clematis in full bloom!

Thank you for joining us here in the garden, we enjoyed having you visit!

Oh, and sweet dreams....

Memorial Day 2015

Memorial Day is different for every individual. It can be a happy and joyful day for some and a reminder of a crushing loss for others. There has been some debate on social media about using "Happy" to describe Memorial Day, or Decoration Day as it used to be called. I've had many a happy "Memorial Day" but I also understand why many despise the phrase. I still have relatives in the military, so I can see both sides of the issue.

Some of us enjoy picnics and time with family and friends and view the day as the gateway to summer. Often this is the annual trip family members make to visit the cemetery to place flowers at the relatives and ancestors graves. I think there are many emotions involved in this day, happiness, bittersweet memories and outright grief.

So be mindful of others and let us not forget the true reason for this Holiday. Memorial Day is a day for remembering and honoring military personnel who died in the service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle.

I have fond but bittersweet memories as a child in a small town, placing little American flags on the grave-sites in our local cemetery. Many other local children took part in this somber activity. My Father and Grandfather were both veterans and would usually take part in the ceremony as well. I still remember the trumpet playing the song "Taps". If you've forgotten the lyrics, I found them at www.scoutsongs.com/lyrics/taps.html and posted them below.

Before you go off on your happy party or picnic with family and friends, just take a few moments to remember those who fought and died for you and your loved ones.

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky;
All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.

Fading light, dims the sight,
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright.
From afar, drawing nigh, falls the night.

Thanks and praise, for our days,
'Neath the sun, 'neath the stars, neath the sky;
As we go, this we know, God is nigh.

Sun has set, shadows come,
Time has fled, Scouts must go to their beds
Always true to the promise that they made.

While the light fades from sight,
And the stars gleaming rays softly send,
To thy hands we our souls, Lord, commend.

Thank you all for visiting today.

Monday, Monday So Good to Me

Cute things for you....

This cute graphic is from a box of note cards I picked up at a flea market last summer. The cards inside were sadly not the ones on the box, but still cute enough. However... I really bought them so I could get the box! These two are so adorable and they have names! On the side of the box they are officially called "Pup & Fluff".

Pup and Fluff!

Monday Monday
Monday, Monday, so good to me
Monday morning, it was all I hoped it would be
Oh, Monday morning, Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening, you would still be here with me
Monday, Monday, can't trust that day
Monday, Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh, Monday morning, you gave me no warning of what was to be
Oh, Monday, Monday, how could you leave and not take me?
Every other day, every other day
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes
But whenever Monday comes
You can find me crying all of the time
Monday, Monday, so good to me
Monday morning, it was all I hoped it would be
But Monday morning, Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening, you would still be here with me

We're having a very cold, wet and windy day today. I'll be staying
inside and visiting your blogs and catching up with all of you.

I hope these cute images helped to cheer you up on this Monday!
Looking forward to a great week!

The Most Beautiful Time of the Year

I hope you enjoy a few of my photos from my recent visit to our Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. The air was filled with the sweet perfume of daffodils and hyacinths, but the stars of the show were the tulips.

I've been very busy these days, but I just had to steal away the other morning to visit one of my favorite places and take some photos. I hope you all enjoy the upcoming Mother's Day weekend and I will be visiting your blogs soon.

Thank you all for visiting me today!
