Soft and Quiet

Soft and quiet, October arrived. The rain on the roof is tapping lightly while I sip on my gi-normous cup of coffee. The house is quiet this morning and I look over some of the enchanted vintage items I picked up last weekend.

I found another silly rabbit planter, this one with a little pink bow around his neck.  A few gorgeous teacups arranged on top of the piano amongst the Autumn decorations, placed there out of the way of kitty foot traffic!

Pretty roses and cosmos adorn these two cups and saucers. Rain dripping off the roof and all the windows are now closed up, there's a real chill in the air.  Even the kitties are not happy with the cold wet weather and after their morning breakfast, went right back to their favorite warm spots for naps.

This little owl creamer is so sweet and goes so well with the Autumn colors. Soft and quiet, that's kind of how these pictures came out. I snapped them with my phone, too lazy to go down stairs and get my other camera!

Last weekend was the last Flea Market of the year for our favorite venue.  My hubby and I gathered up as much as we could find.  We were like crazed squirrels hoarding our treasures for the winter.  It was much nicer last week getting out than it will be in the coming cold months. And just like that the weather changed from an 80 degree day on Sunday to now in the 50's with rain.

Speaking of crazed squirrels, what do you think of this little charmer?  It is a dark brown squirrel nut or candy dish. He has gold trim on the little dish he holds in front and gold around the large bowl opening which is his tail. My husband called him psycho squirrel. I think he is cute and couldn't resist. It was worth getting up at 5:30 in the morning just to find this little treasure!

Next time I'll be sharing a few photos of a little trip north I took with my husband. We drove along the shore of Lake Superior all the way from Duluth to Grand Marais MN.

Until next time....  I'll be seeing you in BlogLand! ~~Diane

  1. I love your treasures especially the tea cup with cosmos. I have never seen comos painted on anything. I love the simplicity of this flower.
I can just see you and your husband gathering things. Reminds me of the old days when I was painting...my husband and I used to go in opposite directions and meet later with what we bought. it was fun.
    Enjoy....Balisha

    1. Thank you for visiting.... I love the cosmos flower and the shape of the cup is quite pretty too. We had a great time, it was summerish weather and with our phones now so easy to track each other down. So yes, we usually lose each other and he looks for collectible fishing and bike gear and I look for cute stuff. Sometimes though, he finds the cute things, he actually found the rabbit this time!

  3. Oh Diane - I so enjoyed my visit. Your treasures are all wonderful. I adore that cosmos cup...just beautiful my friend. Sounds like your weather is coming our way tomorrow...hope it comes through and then is gone leaving all of us with some more lovely days of autumn. After all it is only the first of October - let's hope fall lingers a while longer. Hugs

    1. Seriously! Dot never, never! Guy rarely! I can't think of the last time he tried it. The water bottle and a firm "No" seem to work pretty well! You have to remember that I did intensive training with Guy when he was little, I was with him pretty much 24/7! He is naughty in other ways though, just the other day he ripped a hole in the curtain sheers. That resulted in a 10 minute time out locked in the basement!

  6. Well, I think that little squirrel is cute in a psycho kind of way :) All kidding aside, I love all the treasures you find. They make me feel very nostalgic. I am so looking forward to photos of the trip you took. Lake Superior! I'd love to see it one day. Well, at least part of it :)

  7. I LOVE your "psycho squirrel!" He is a happy fellow, and not unlike the Minneapolis squirrels in my tree! How lovely your sweet narrative; I am here enjoying the tapping on the windows of the gentle rain. I was also watching WCCO news and just before I turned off the TV, the weather man said something about
    S N O W! I hope you are nowhere near that possibility!

Love your music, and thank you so much for coming to visit. Anita

  9. Hi Diane, that coffee looks good; I must make a cup when I’ve left this comment. I love your autumn decorations and your new goodies. I have nothing but admiration for you getting up and going out so early. I’m going to a flea market on Sunday, but I’m very glad to say it doesn't start until 9.30am and is only half an hour up the road. I used to go to car boot sales that started at 6am, but it’s miserable in the winter when it’s wet and cold, so I’ve decided not to do that any more. I hope the sun is shining for you today. Have a lovely weekend. Barbara x

  13. Squirrel with too much coffee! That's hilarious. And yes, that would be a kitty disaster, having those items around paws.
