As I promised here are a few little cuties I picked up while in Florida!
These are some darling vintage pottery pieces fresh from the farm! Snuggled in my husbands carry on bag, they made it all the way home from Florida without a scratch! This is just a sampling, there will be more to come over the next couple of weeks!
I have to say, that even though I will be selling them,
I really would love to keep them and who knows they
aren't listed in my shop yet!
No, I must be strong and sell these cuties.
Why should I have all the fun!!
They will be listed soon in my shop, CraveCute.
Lucky Duck
Just looking at these cute little farm critters makes me happy!
We have a new coating of fresh snow on the ground and just gazing at these cuties in my cabinet makes me feel so happy!
The only one around here that is still fascinated by snow is Guy!
He just loves it!

One thing I am sure of is that they are all American made pieces from the late 1940's through the 1950's. The only piece that I have been able to verify for sure is the duck. He was made by the Spaulding China company out of Sebring Ohio, during the 1950's. Spaulding also produced Royal Copley and Royal Windsor. The heyday for American pottery was after World War II until 1957, after that foreign pottery and china started flooding the market and many American pottery companies met their demise.
As far as the Piggy, I think he may also be a Spaulding piece, he has the same coloration and black accents for his features, just like the Duck. Spaulding used paper labels and Mr. Duck still has his on his chest. Unfortunately, on most pottery those have been washed away long ago.
The Rooster is also a bit of a mystery, I have seen others in green, blue and one multi color, but it is unclear of the maker, possibly Fredericksburg Art Pottery also out of Ohio.
Thank you for stopping in!

So sweet! I can't decide which I like best. Good on your husband for getting them all home in one piece. xx
ReplyDeleteThey are all adorable. How are they handling the northern weather? Warm to cold...poor little buggers must be freezing! Hahaha... Just being silly. They are all precious, and I can imagine how hard it will be to part with them. Your photos are all beautifully taken with such great lighting; definitely a plus when you're trying to sell items!
ReplyDeleteHaha! They seem to be getting used to it here! Thanks for the photo compliment!

Your vintage pieces are cute. I especially like the little pig. I noticed the green plate in the back ground - it's gorgeous.

ReplyDeleteThey are so sweet, what a great collection!
ReplyDeleteDear Diane - What lovely pieces. Your duck from Sebring, Ohio really perked my interest . I don't live far from Sebring and my grandma when she was young worked at a pottery in Sebring...later she worked in Pekin for Cronin China. I have to think Spaulding must have been the name of the place she worked. Sebring is very small and would have most likely only had one pottery. Will check with my Mom to see if that is the name of the place. Hope you have a happy day. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLet me know what you find out!

ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteGosh Diane - I can remember having something just like these when I was a very young child - especially the duck. Mine were egg cups and I used to eat soft boiled eggs (with toast 'soldiers') out of them. the pink and blue colours that blend in and fade away are so familiar. I love them! xx
ReplyDeleteDiane , your farm fresh vintage ~ is fabulous !
ReplyDeleteDiane, they are so adorable, just wonderful! Think you should choose one to keep for now. Maybe the duck since Easter is coming? The pig is my fav and love it with the flowers. The USA old pottery pieces are great.
ReplyDeleteDiane, your little planters are adorable and look so pretty with those blossoms.
