Oh Spring! Where art thou?

The first day of spring is one thing, and the first
spring day is another.  The difference between them is
sometimes as great as a month.

Henry Van Dyke (1852–1933)

I am really trying to get into the spring spirit here, but it has been very difficult! In my imagination this is what spring looks like......

This is what we actually have.......

As you see, I have been amusing myself with a new spring header and cleaner look for my blog.
I will continue to add springtime images here and there to try and perk up my winter-worn senses.

What is the one thing that signals to you
that spring is really here?

  1. When I see cherry blossom in bloom! I like your new header - very Spring-like. Is there anything cuter than a baby bunny? No!

  2. I feel your pain. That quotation is right on!

Seeing the first robin is always a milestone of Spring for me. Also, green grass and buds on trees.

  3. Lovely new header and I like all the pictures, but the one of the lamb is my favourite. There are lambs in the fields all around us, they must be absolutely freezing at night. Every year is the same - the lambs are born, and the cold comes back.

  4. It looks the same here! Outside it looks like mid January.

When I spot the first robin, that's my sign for spring. I saw one at the beginning of March, and I'm sure he's not happy either about the weather we've had up until now!

  5. Oh, I know you want spring to come, but I love to look at your snow, as I don't see it much where I live. The picture of the little lamb is so sweet. It has been sunny and warm lately, but today it is raining!

    Happy Wednesday.

  7. Diane - the peepers signal spring to me...I haven't heard them yet. We don't have the same amount of snow as you but I woke up to white this morning...March has been long and cold here too. Love your new header. Have a great day. It will come I am sure but when who knows? (LOL)

  8. I love the new look of your blog! Beautiful! So happy looking ;o) Yes, we have lots of snow too, but we saw bunny tracks! Yepee! I know for us, we will have snow till April. That is life. Last year, it was crazy, we went from winter, right into summer, that's how hot it was. We had no Spring. I think I would rather have it this way ;o) Take Care ;o)

    1. Last year at this time our daily high was around 80F (26C)! Then in April it got back into freezing temps and froze all the blossoms off the crab apples and lilacs etc., so sad. I hope we get to see blooms this year!

  12. Spring looks like that to me too but only when the sun's out! We're lucky enough not have had any snow yet but it's really cold! Pop over to my blog when you have a minute, I'm having a giveaway. :) x

  13. I love your new Spring look Diane - and the clean fresh revamp is very pretty. Like you I'm longing for Spring to start - we have just had a deluge of rain and the temperatures are still freezing.

I was so happy to get your comment a couple of days ago - I really have missed the friends I've made in blog land.

Are your three little fairies at the bottom of your posts by Ida Rentoul Outhwaite? They look very much like her work.

    1. Hi Sharon, So nice to see you again! And yes the fairies are hers; I found out more.... "In and out among the snowdrops Fairies were dancing" by Ida Rentoul Outhwaite (1888-1960) from her suite for "Bunny and Brownie: The Adventures of George and Wiggle" (1930)
