Nostalgic Christmas . . .

I found this photo in a box when I was going through my Mom's things a few years ago. I am the sleeping lump on Santa's lap.   My two brothers look thrilled to see Santa!

I was prompted to pull this out because of some not so pleasing, but extremely funny photos I've seen on Pinterest.  Here are a few for your enjoyment. BTW...  If I had been older, I would have screamed too. I don't think I was much in to sitting on Santa's lap!

It's a family tradition!

I hope this poor kid survived this trauma!  They apparently are OK, because their relatives all posted their pictures on the internet!

Anyone had a similar experience?

  1. Lol, poor little sweethearts!! My kids had the same exact reaction the first few times they saw Santa and I can't say I blamed them - Santa Claus is a very imposing figure. Love that pic of you and your brothers :)

  2. Oh my goodness - you were such an adorable baby - and your brothers look so cute too! Thankfully my son never reacted like your other pictures - he went in to the 'grotto' with stars in his eyes and bought into the whole experience completely. It was lovely to see. I enjoyed your Enya clip - the 'castle' she lives in is very close to where I used to stay - but she is very reclusive - although we lived there for almost 5 years and drove past her gates almost every day I don't think I ever saw her!

    1. Glad your son's visits with Santa were fun! Thanks for the interesting tidbit about Enya, I adore her music. It takes her years and years to make a CD because she does all the vocals and plays all the instruments. My dream is that she and Josh Groban do a CD together!

  3. At least it is not like mine pulling Santa's beard to check if it was real (it was!).

  5. I never even laid eyes on a store/mall Santa until I was a teenager. Then the local Marshall Wells store had one of my friend's fathers put on a Santa suit for a Saturday afternoon appearance. She and I jokingly went and sat on his lap and pretended he was the real Santa, but the magic was gone.

That was life in a small one-horse prairie town 50 years ago.

    1. I also lived close to a prairie town, I actually lived on the prairie... not too many Santas around. This is the only picture I found where we ever visited Santa. I still remember when we were at a mall at Christmas once and my Mom asked if I wanted to see Santa, I declined(I was probably 6)!

  6. These are just great ... I have a picture of my daughter somewhat like this when she was a little one ... not with Santa though ... just get some professional ones done at Christmas time.

    Happiness always,
    Jan

  7. I love that photo of you with your two brothers! You were all adorable! I laughed with all the photos of the kids frightened. I didn't have an experience like that when I was a child, but my kids did. Santa can be quite intimidating to young children!

  9. Dear Diane - first of all I love the photo - reminds me of a picture my folks have of me sitting with Santa. The other pictures make me smile - I suppose Santa can be a bit terrifying to us wee ones at first. Have a great week.
