We are welcoming a new baby kitten into our home! As you may be aware
June is Adopt a Cat Month. I haven't had a kitten for many years and decided this would be the perfect time to adopt. We found a cute little guy who needed a home, so I will be busy with him for a few weeks until he gets settled in. I found out our home is really not kitten proof, so while I am at it, a little house cleaning and organization is also taking place. The image below is a great example of what NOT to do if you have a kitten - or cat for that matter. String, thread, needles, pins.... aaaak! Keep these items far, far away from the little ones.
I will still try to stop by your blogs to visit, but I may not post anything for a couple of weeks. It just depends on how things go. Of course the first thing I will be posting are pictures of our kitten!
In the mean time, here is a very cute and fun song called "Hey, Little Kitty" by the Peekers!
Enjoy! ~ Diane ~
What fun! I remember when Her Royal Highness was a kitten -- she was 9 weeks old when I brought her home from the Humane Society. Yes, you must stay close, bond and socialize the kitten well! Looking forward to photos in due course!
ReplyDeleteThat's fantastic news Diane! How kind of you to give one of my young relatives a loving home. That'll keep him on the straight and narrow! Can't wait to see some photos and find out what you're calling him.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sulky Kitten! I knew you would approve. If I need any tips, I will make sure to consult you for your feline perspective! Kitten is dark colored so right now we are thinking candy bar names, like Snickers, Heath, Kit Kat, Twix or Reese.
DeleteYou are so brave - kittens are more of a handful than a puppy and I am still tired from that last experience, lol!! Totally worth the time and effort - there's nothing more soothing than a cozy cat curled up on your couch. Have fun and I look forward to your pics.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new addition to your family. Hope the kitty settles in nicely and quickly too. xo
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! I can't wait to see pictures :) I told my mom about "adopt a kitten" month after seeing your tweet and she was really excited about it!
ReplyDeleteAwwww...sweet! That will be fun. I've always enjoyed the kitten stage, although it can be quite a bit of work. Enjoy the time with the new kitten, and post lots of photos!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait. We are picking him up Monday or Tuesday!
DeleteHow special it is to take a baby kitten and make a home for him. I hope everything works out with your new little addition.

Thanks Everyone! Kitty is home now! He is a doll! VEry sharp claws and a climber! He has started to settled down a bit. On my desk this morning and has discovered the arrow on the screen display and has been chasing it around when I was on twitter. My other two adult cats know something is up but I am keeping the separate for a few more days. ~Diane~
ReplyDeleteDear Diane - how wonderful about your adoption - there is nothing like a kitten to liven up a household. I have 4 adult cats but I am craving another kitten - maybe I can convince hubby to let me adopt since it the month of June (lol) - loved the Little Kitty song. Have a great day and good luck with your new kitten - hope you will post a picture when you get a chance.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your new family member, enjoy everything and I look forward to hearing about the cat adventures
ReplyDeleteAwwww, Thanks for the warm hug...ciao!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new kitten, looking forward to seeing lots of 'photos.
ReplyDeleteOh, congratulations! Kittens are just heavenly (as are sweet grown up ones too). Do you have a name for him yet?
ReplyDeletehappy seeing beautiful!
Love your blog. I found out about you from Barbara, March House Books.
ReplyDeleteHope your new kitty brings lots of joy into your life. Pets can be so rewarding most of the time. We have two boxers I have to stay home and dog-sit and miss some adventures because we don't like to leave them at the pet resort. They stop eating and lose handsful of hair for weeks after we bring them home. Been grandkid and dog sitting for over nineteen years. The kids I never mind...the boxers I sometimes do if I have to miss a weekend trip to somewhere fun.
ReplyDeleteThank you Donna and Anna for being new followers! I will have new pictures of kitten up soon, as well as his mysterious name! I love, love animals and have always loved kitties the most!
