Lazy Days of Summer

Summer Days are made for Flea Markets and Tag Sales! Early summer is a great time to get out and enjoy the warm weather and pick up a few treasures whilst getting a bit of exercise too! Here are a few gems I've picked up over the last month.

Wouldn't you feel like a Queen sipping out of this gorgeous Yellow Tea Cup and Saucer? It's a 1950's set by Royal Sealy China. Japanese tea cup set in iridescent luster-ware finish. The tea cup is footed with a yellow and white iridescent finish trimmed in gold. Both the tea cup and the saucer are faceted. The tea cup has 3 geometric gold feet. Wonderful Art Deco style!

Are you old enough to remember these? Found this lovely vintage Set of 4 Metal Snack/Lap Trays. They are Green & Yellow with lithographed roses and leaves. Beautiful bright colors with red and cream colored roses. They're chippy and shabby and perfect for your French cottage, farmhouse, or cabin decor.

They remind me of those days long ago when we kids could grab a sandwich and chips and park ourselves on the floor in front of the TV on Sunday night and watch Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color.

I just found this vintage 1962 park map of Disneyland in a box of books that I picked up at an estate sale last year.  Someone from California snapped it up from my shop within a week!

Of course when I think about my time as a kid, I always think of my Mom.  I found this black and white photo of her taken when she was about 6 years old. I played around with the Pixlr photo editor to get the results below. She had the most beautiful captivating eyes.

Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July and you're ready
to take on those Lazy Days of Summer!

See you soon!

Extreme Cold

Winter Chill .... or Back into the Polar Vortex...... or New Year same Old Cold!

Again with the extreme cold! Why won't the cold air stay at the North Pole where it belongs? Anyway, I am not leaving the house for the next week! Meanwhile, it's nice to look at some of these gorgeous photos on my phone while snuggled under a blanket in front of the fire! Here's to warm hearts, warm cats and warm beverages!

Down Memory Lane

One of my brother's recently turned 60 years old.  As we reminisced about the good old days we also came to the harsh realization that we are getting old! How this happened we could not determine, but sure enough, when you look at the calendar and figure up the years, we are indeed old.

During our conversation my brother requested some of the old photos I had stored away.  He wanted to get some copies so he could quiz my Uncle about some of the relatives in the really ancient pictures.

Year after year, the relatives start to slip away.....the ones who still remember all the names in the old photos.  My gift to my brother was a promise that by next summer I would have all the pictures copied on a disk for him.  As I started paging through my Mom's old photo albums, I noticed a theme with my pictures, I seemed to always have a cat as a prop!  Or maybe, I just always had a cat in my arms. I know they were my constant companions, so it is no surprise to see my image grasping a cat.

My brothers were several years older and I was almost like an only child at times.  There were no kids that lived close by, so many days I would play alone.  My bond with felines was obviously established at a young age and will continue all my life. My introverted nature helped me cope with being alone so much.  I actually preferred spending time with  adults or much older children than myself. That is probably where I honed my listening and observational skills!

Some day I will get all of these photos copied and I hope to share more of them with you.  I have sworn to my brothers to never put pictures of them beyond age ten anywhere on the internet, but they never read this, so I might sneak one in sometime down the road.

What kind of things start you down the path of memory lane!
