Lazy Days of Summer

Summer Days are made for Flea Markets and Tag Sales! Early summer is a great time to get out and enjoy the warm weather and pick up a few treasures whilst getting a bit of exercise too! Here are a few gems I've picked up over the last month.

Wouldn't you feel like a Queen sipping out of this gorgeous Yellow Tea Cup and Saucer? It's a 1950's set by Royal Sealy China. Japanese tea cup set in iridescent luster-ware finish. The tea cup is footed with a yellow and white iridescent finish trimmed in gold. Both the tea cup and the saucer are faceted. The tea cup has 3 geometric gold feet. Wonderful Art Deco style!

Are you old enough to remember these? Found this lovely vintage Set of 4 Metal Snack/Lap Trays. They are Green & Yellow with lithographed roses and leaves. Beautiful bright colors with red and cream colored roses. They're chippy and shabby and perfect for your French cottage, farmhouse, or cabin decor.

They remind me of those days long ago when we kids could grab a sandwich and chips and park ourselves on the floor in front of the TV on Sunday night and watch Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color.

I just found this vintage 1962 park map of Disneyland in a box of books that I picked up at an estate sale last year.  Someone from California snapped it up from my shop within a week!

Of course when I think about my time as a kid, I always think of my Mom.  I found this black and white photo of her taken when she was about 6 years old. I played around with the Pixlr photo editor to get the results below. She had the most beautiful captivating eyes.

Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July and you're ready
to take on those Lazy Days of Summer!

See you soon!

Soft and Quiet

Soft and quiet, October arrived. The rain on the roof is tapping lightly while I sip on my gi-normous cup of coffee. The house is quiet this morning and I look over some of the enchanted vintage items I picked up last weekend.

I found another silly rabbit planter, this one with a little pink bow around his neck.  A few gorgeous teacups arranged on top of the piano amongst the Autumn decorations, placed there out of the way of kitty foot traffic!

Pretty roses and cosmos adorn these two cups and saucers. Rain dripping off the roof and all the windows are now closed up, there's a real chill in the air.  Even the kitties are not happy with the cold wet weather and after their morning breakfast, went right back to their favorite warm spots for naps.

This little owl creamer is so sweet and goes so well with the Autumn colors. Soft and quiet, that's kind of how these pictures came out. I snapped them with my phone, too lazy to go down stairs and get my other camera!

Last weekend was the last Flea Market of the year for our favorite venue.  My hubby and I gathered up as much as we could find.  We were like crazed squirrels hoarding our treasures for the winter.  It was much nicer last week getting out than it will be in the coming cold months. And just like that the weather changed from an 80 degree day on Sunday to now in the 50's with rain.

Speaking of crazed squirrels, what do you think of this little charmer?  It is a dark brown squirrel nut or candy dish. He has gold trim on the little dish he holds in front and gold around the large bowl opening which is his tail. My husband called him psycho squirrel. I think he is cute and couldn't resist. It was worth getting up at 5:30 in the morning just to find this little treasure!

Next time I'll be sharing a few photos of a little trip north I took with my husband. We drove along the shore of Lake Superior all the way from Duluth to Grand Marais MN.

Until next time....  I'll be seeing you in BlogLand! ~~Diane

I'm Surrounded

I'm surrounded by cute things and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Who doesn't love looking at these sweet items I picked up a few weeks ago at the local flea market?
Just look what I found!

Two wood items, the darling Kitty match holder and the Rooster decorated Woodpecker wooden ware knife holder. A sweet little pig pitcher, an adorable green squirrel planter, a gorgeous pink fan McCoy planter and some darling vintage birthday cards.

All these things bring a smile to my face and my heart. Many things in our lives are beyond our control.  Since I can control my immediate environment, I have decided that surrounding myself with cute things and making them available to others is what I will do with the second part of my life.   This way I get to enjoy these darling treasures for awhile and then share them all with you the reader or collector.

I also found the pixie planter, a yellow cat cactus planter, a Scotty dog cookie cutter
and a bunch of vintage Valentines.

After watching a couple of episodes of hoarders, I want to make sure I keep on track with moving these items from my home to yours!! It's a winning formula, I get the enjoyment of searching and finding these little treasures and sharing with other people who will also appreciate their fun, cute or quirky appearance.  Maybe you can't or don't want to get up at 5am to go to the flea market or estate sale, but I really don't mind it. In fact my husband and I both love going and we have a great time together! So on Saturday and Sunday mornings, you sleep in and I will get up early and go out and find more of these lovely little gems just for you.

Right now I am enjoying their sweet little smiling faces and pretty long lashes and bright little eyes.

 Yes I am surrounded....

surrounded by some of the things I love!

If you crave cute things as much as I do, then check out my shop CraveCute on Etsy. Maybe you will find something there that you will love too!
