Enjoying Springtime

Spring has just a few short weeks left before Summer arrives.  Already I see the changes, the roses and peonies are getting ready to bloom and the crab-apples and lilacs are all done for the year. It's a lovely time of year, we have had abundant rain and everything is growing like crazy and the plants still have that fresh green "newness" about them.

I hope you enjoy some of these photos of my garden and a few vintage images as well.  Most of all I hope you are enjoying Spring!

The crab-apple blossoms falling onto the violets below look like a pretty natural confetti.

I adore the scent of lilacs .... always reminds me of growing up on the farm.

The crab-apples were splendid this year!

Bleeding hearts are a favorite of mine too!

These buttercups just shine in the sun!

I also wanted to share these images I picked up on The Graphics Fairy website. Every now and then I find some vintage images that I simply must have!  "Butterflies and a Fairy", is simply wonderful and I think "Miss Spring" is adorable!

Memorial day is coming up and here is one last image I'd like to share with you.

The card reads,

"May thy sweet blossoms never cease to bloom
in love and trust and peace."

And may we never forget those who serve and protect us everyday and those who gave their lives for us.

The Last Card

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there!
Whether you're a Mom, Stepmom, Surrogate Mom or Pet Mom ....
I wish you the happiest day ever!

My own dear Mother has been gone for over 20 years now, this is the last card that I gave to her. It's a lovely three dimensional card by Hallmark. As is with most of their cards the artist is not credited. It is a very pretty watercolor of wild roses, daisies and forget-me-nots and some other assorted flora. The little bluebirds add a bit more whimsey to this pretty card.

The sentiment on the card is an old one but still holds true...

"God could not be everywhere and therefore He made Mothers."

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
See you soon!

Dancing Round the Maypole

I'm so happy that May has arrived. I'm as happy as these little critters dancing around the Maypole!

In early April I had sent out a tweet pic (of snow and sleet) with the message that 'April was the cruelest month.'  It turned out to be a crueler month than I could have imagined. We had been teased by the warmer temperatures in March and then April arrived, pelted us with sleet and hail and then rained purple tears all over us. I'm glad April is behind us.

Welcome May! Sun-kissed and sweet, May is the true beginning of spring up north. The flowers start to bloom in earnest and the green things leap out of the ground!

 Plum Blossoms

 Purple Violets

What a pity flowers can utter no sound!
A singing rose, a whispering violet, a murmuring honeysuckle,
Oh, what a rare and exquisite miracle would these be!

 Raindrops on the Bloodroot leaves

After raining on us for nearly a week the sun finally came out.

Guy Noir enjoying some sun...

I'm wishing for all of you fine weather
and lovely new memories in the month of May.
