So this afternoon while starting to write my blog post, I thought about complaining about February seeming like the longest month of all, but I stopped and I decided to change my mindset. No complaining about the weather because it is what it is. Instead I thought about this morning, enjoying the song of the happy little birds and the pretty shadows on our new fallen snow.
Occasionally we've all had heartbreaks, illness and innumerous sufferings that have troubled us. I know a few blog friends who are going through really difficult times right now, and they are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sorry for any of you that are going through rough times now that I'm unaware of. But, if you're like me and you're in a good place, then for goodness sake don't let the little things get you down.
Try and find a bit of joy in your day...
it can be as simple as the song of a little bird.

What kinds of simple things give you joy in your everyday life?
This is such a lovely and delightful post, like everything you post on your blog.
ReplyDeleteSimple things that give me joy: snow, rain, sunsets, animals, sounds of nature (birds chirping and singing, waterfalls, ocean waves, crickets, thunderstorms, a cat's purr) I get joy out of the smallest things. Thank you so much for sharing.
A smile. Yesterday's a memory, tomorrow's never promised, today we are loaned. You've a way with words Diane, never stop.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave! You have a way with words also! :)
DeleteSweet post. Looking at 8 inches of new snow, yet thankful hubby has a snow day. I regret I forgot to pick up a bag of bird seed at the store. Tomorrow I'll get some for our little feathered friends.
ReplyDeleteDiane, thank you for reminding us to look to nature for strength and happiness. It never fails. This is a wonderfully uplifting blog post. I'm watching birds out my window right now.
ReplyDeleteA sweet post and kind words. I've found February has flown by, I'm currently enjoying the lighter mornings.
ReplyDeleteLove this post! I can imagine the joy you've felt at hearing the bird song. I like that quote you have at the end.
ReplyDeleteI find joy in little things too, especially in nature and my hobbies. They're always there everyday.
Thank your Charlene, and everyone else that has been so kind as to comment! I love reading them all! ~ Diane
DeleteWonderful post! I have been hearing the birdies all through the day lately and it is staying light longer! Spring will be here soon!
ReplyDeleteDiane, this actually brought a tear to my eye because I appreciate thankful people so much. Even though it's snowing, it's still a beautiful day. Some of us crave the snow, which we never get to see, and others crave the sun and warmth, which they don't have right now. But the weather is what it is, as you said, and that pretty much says it all. Don't the birds seem to cheer us up on those dreary days? Thank you for this gentle reminder of appreciating what is right in front of us.
ReplyDeleteHave a peaceful weekend.
love, ~Sheri
What excellent advice! (And February is over tomorrow, yay!) I love my decaf coffees. Sitting with one and taking a few minutes for myself is something I love to do.
ReplyDeleteI like your take on things. February hasn't been a good month for me, but instead i will focus on good things to come! I have been hearing birds singing lately and that makes me hopeful for spring :)
ReplyDeleteOh Diane, how right you are. It’s raining and sleeting at the moment but earlier today I put on my raincoat and boots and went for a walk. I managed 5 miles! I was cold and fed up when I started, but within a few minutes, I was listening to the birds and watching the rabbits hopping around in the fields. I came home tired but much happier. It’s difficult to appreciate the little things in life but so important. Keep smiling. Barbara x
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post- I loved reading this. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely post, Diane. Birdsong is wonderful. I've heard some here in the last week or so too. :)
