The Never Ending Winter

This is where Dot has spent most of the winter. She loves her new bed; Best Friends by Sheri (a Christmas present). I picked it up at a Home Goods store and I don't remember the actual name of the bed, but we call it the Cat Yurt. If you don't know what a yurt is look here.

When it was sunny and there was no wind, she would venture outside for about five minutes and then zoom back into the warmth of the house, (kind of like me)!

Who could blame her when you were met with Ice-Henge! These photos are from a couple of weeks ago.  Those 5 and 6 foot pillars of ice fell off of the roof! Most of them impaled themselves in the snow below, a few fell over and shattered.  Needless to say, we were very careful about standing under them or letting the kitties out until they came down.

Guy loves the snow! Only the coldest of temperatures and wind kept him inside.  I threw a wool blanket on the table and he was quite content sitting up there while I shoveled the walk.

Thankfully, some of the snow is now gone.  Melted by the somewhat warmer temperatures.  We did have a bit of snow yesterday just to tease us again.  I let Guy out for a bit and the huge flakes covered him in just a couple of minutes.  Even he has seen enough snow for this winter!

Our weather is gradually improving and on Sunday we are to warm into the mid 50's.  We are even seeing some bare ground finally.  I have to say though that this is really the ugliest time of year in Minnesota.  The snow is dirty and grimy  and nothing has started greening up yet.  But in a couple of weeks, oh what a change we will see!

In the mean time, Dot will be hanging out in her Yurt.  I will be getting round to visit your blogs and Guy will be Guy!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Farm Fresh Vintage

As I promised here are a few little cuties I picked up while in Florida!

These are some darling vintage pottery pieces fresh from the farm! Snuggled in my husbands carry on bag, they made it all the way home from Florida without a scratch! This is just a sampling, there will be more to come over the next couple of weeks!

I have to say, that even though I will be selling them,
I really would love to keep them and who knows they
aren't listed in my shop yet!

No, I must be strong and sell these cuties.
Why should I have all the fun!!
They will be listed soon in my shop, CraveCute.

Lucky Duck

Just looking at these cute little farm critters makes me happy!

We have a new coating of fresh snow on the ground and just gazing at these cuties in my cabinet makes me feel so happy!
The only one around here that is still fascinated by snow is Guy!
He just loves it!

American Pottery

One thing I am sure of is that they are all American made pieces from the late 1940's through the 1950's. The only piece that I have been able to verify for sure is the duck.  He was made by the Spaulding China company out of Sebring Ohio, during the 1950's. Spaulding also produced Royal Copley and Royal Windsor. The heyday for American pottery was after World War II until 1957, after that foreign pottery and china started flooding the market and many American pottery companies met their demise.

As far as the Piggy, I think he may also be a Spaulding piece, he has the same coloration and black accents for his features, just like the Duck.  Spaulding used paper labels and Mr. Duck still has his on his chest. Unfortunately, on most pottery those have been washed away long ago.

The Rooster is also a bit of a mystery, I have seen others in green, blue and one multi color, but it is unclear of the maker, possibly Fredericksburg Art Pottery also out of Ohio.

Thank you for stopping in!

It Was Nice

It was nice while it lasted! I had lovely get-away to a much warmer climate!
Some of you wondered where I was.  Well I'm not making it that easy!
Take a look at my photos and let me know where you think I was.

There were palm trees, and lovely orchids, some old friends
and a few new ones too!

For those of you that have been there, this should give you a really good clue!

OK, you have all fiqured it out by now!

Next time I'll show you a few of the treasures I found at some of the local flea-markets and estate sales I found on my vacation.

Back home in Minnesota, it is still cold and we still have snow, but it is melting and the temperatures are much warmer.  I think my time away will get me through until spring finally gets here!

Hope you all had a great week!
See you soon ~~ Diane

Jumping for Joy

Spring is right around the corner!
This little duck is jumping for joy and so am I!
Yes there are still huge snow drifts in my yard and all over the country,
but we are starting to turn the proverbial corner on our way to spring!

I've had a nice little break away from all the cold and snow
and soon I will share more of my little treasures that I
found when I was on my vacation/buying trip.

I will be getting around to all of your blogs in a few days.
I really miss all of my bloggy friends and can't wait to see what you have all been up to.
So stay tuned folks, I will be sharing more over the next few weeks.

Meanwhile...
join me and my little friend while we
do a little happy dance!
