The Anticipation...

The anticipation of Christmas is building! It was quite evident the other day when a mother was fending off her child's insistant pleading for something while I passed by the toy isle at the local store.

Oh, but we're all children at heart when it comes to Christmas!  My husband and I watched part of the old "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" movie, the other night.  I still thought the abominable snow monster was scary! We'd both forgotten about the land of misfit toys. I thought it was worthy to highlight the quote by one of the elves below.  Dreamed up by some marketing genius, I'll bet!

My favorite toys were stuffed animals. One of my all time favorites was a large pink (surprise) cat with a black tail and ears. Oh, I wish I had her still....

What were some of your favorite toys as a child?

  1. I love your wonderful Christmas header! And my favorite toys were stuffed animals too. :) I had big stuffed tiger two feet tall, and loved, loved loved him. I wonder where he ended up? I haven't thought of him in years.

  3. My favourite stuffed toy was a small rabbit wearing patched overalls. His name was Hobo the Bunny. I received him for Easter one year.

    1. Welcome Rick! We need a few more men around here! And to those that have shared your favorites, thank you as well! I love to hear what others cherished as a child... and Mary, glad I could spark this memory for you. I feel the same about Miss Kitty, not sure what happened to her either.

  9. Diane - such a lovely quote - my favorite toy was my Chatty Cathy and believe it or not I still have her. She sits on a bookshelf and overlooks all my adult doings now instead of my child ones. Take care and have a great week friend.

  10. Hi Diane, I'm just home from my hols and catching up with all my favourite blogs - yours is high on that list. I'm looking forward to seeing all I've missed.
One of my favourite toys was "Mr. Potato Head" in those days we used real potatoes for the body (not the plastic kind you can buy today) I loved the squelching noises as I pushed in ears, eyes, a mouth and a nose. Thanks for the memories. Barbara xx
