Today I thought I would do a little squirrel round-up at my house, just to find out how many squirrely things I had. I surprised even myself!
#1
A vintage covered candy/nut dish...
#2,3
A new plate I picked up a few years ago. A vintage McCoy Pottery Squirrel.
#4
A new resin piece I picked up on clearance last year.
#5
A book by Richard E. Mallery that I purchased a year after moving into our home with its squirrel-icious filled backyard.
#6
A vintage Danish print I purchased years ago.
#7
A squirrely souvenir found at an estate sale.
#8
A squirrel nut-cracker....
#9
A concrete squirrel that I painted in honor of our occasional visitors the White Squirrels.
#10
A squirrel sweater I bought on clearance a few years ago.
#11,12?
A pair of vintage Squirrel Salt and Pepper shakers, also found years ago.
The squirrels above are my very own, however I have had a few squirrels in my Etsy shop. Remember the Green Squirrel (still available) ........
....and the book Miss Suzy? Sorry she's been sold.
Now I've just added another Squirrel on Log Planter,
1950's Vintage by Enesco. Click on the links if you'd like to see more.
If you are also nuts about squirrels, you should get your very own! Either the real live furry ones or the cute little pottery kind above!
Oh, and the one thing I learned from the squirrel book is this...
"If there's a squirrel, there's a way!"
Till next time ~~~ Always Crave Cute.... Squirrels! ~~ Diane
Love all these squirrels. One of my favorite animals. Oh, and by the way, I LOVE the music that plays on this page :)
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you! You may want to follow me on SoundCloud, just click on the yellow follow icon in the sidebar.
Deletewhat can i say???? i'm blushing.......i can't beleive you sometimes get vanilla squirrels!!!! of course I'm loving this squirrelicious post........think i need to find a jumper like yours! Thank you for sharing your gorgeous collection x
ReplyDeleteWell you know I was drawn to your blog by your delightful name and your cute squirrel avatar! I love "Vanilla" instead of "White", I shall start referring to them as such from now on.
DeleteI made (or maybe it was my mom) a large walnut with a little squirrel on top in ceramics years ago! Still have it, one of the few pieces I kept. Nice squirrel collection, I think you love them more than you know! xo
ReplyDeleteSounds adorable! I have collections of cats, rabbits and I guess squirrels!
Delete"Squirrelicious"? Are you as fond of squirrels as I am of rabbits . . . or do you draw the line at squirrel stew?
ReplyDeleteOh Debra! You are a bad girl!! No squirrel stew on the menu, ever! If any of you are wondering Debra likes rabbits, not just to look at, if you get my drift! We still love you anyway Debra. Just leave your squirrel net home if you ever come to Minnesota and my backyard.. I hope Martha stops by to back me up!
DeleteOh my, I adore them all! :)
ReplyDeleteDear Diane - I enjoyed seeing your collection of squirrels - looks to me like you may have been collecting for some time (LOL) - I think they are so sweet even when they get in my bird feeders. Do you have black ones? We have always had the gray and red but recently there are black ones moving out to the country. Before they were always just in town. Take care and have a great week-end.
ReplyDeleteNo black squirrels around here, I have seen them in other cities though. I will have to settle for Guy Noir and his 'squirrel' tail.
DeleteQuite a 'nutty' collection! I really like the resin piece. I adore squirrels...even when they are causing trouble in the garden. I feel the same way about rabbits. I think they are the cutest (troublemakers). *slaps* Debra on hand for bad behaviour... We still love her though :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Martha! I knew I could count on you!
DeleteThat's quite a collection! I guess I'm not such a fan as they drive my dogs crazy and the squirrels actually seem to taunt them through the window. But they are cute.
ReplyDelete- The Tablescaper
O my goodness -- how adorable! Squirrels really are one of those unfailingly cute animals aren't they.. that stance, that curious, mischievous cock of the head and glint in the eye.. It's like you could never get a bad shot of them lol! I love the resin piece and the Danish print.
ReplyDeleteI love this post Diane! I am like you, I get mad at them, but I wouldn't want to go without them! I love to watch them! Sometimes, when they get excited and start doing flips in the mulch, I laugh so hard! This fall, they have ripped up parts of the grass, for their nests! Bad squirrels! LOL! Take Care, Hugs ;o)
ReplyDeleteI think you could safely start a fan club...I found Miss Suzy as an adult after we grew up having my grandmother read it to us. So neat!
ReplyDeletePS Tulips? What do they want with tulips?!
ReplyDeleteRK - It is usually the red ones they go after. I think they believe it is some luscious red fruit (strawberry?). They never eat it, the flower is usually just lying on the ground next to the plant. Who knows what goes through their little squirrel brains!!
DeleteDiane, we have enough squirrels in our yard to last a lifetime! I love them, too. We put bread crumbs out on our deck all along the railing, and then they come and eat them up. When it's all gone, they lay down flat on their stomachs, legs hanging down over the railing and stare in the window for more. I especially like your McCoy squirrel and the print.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post :) Greetings and welcome to Us Patricia & Daniel
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute collection of all things squirrel-ly Diane. Love the old ceramic pieces from the 50s and 60s. Nostalgic.
ReplyDeleteDiane,
ReplyDeleteI like your squirrel collection, especially the resin piece. It kind of looks antique looking. And the book sounds like a good one. I see squirrels every now and then, and although they startle me a bit, they are sweet animals.
Happy Autumn day.
Love,
~Sheri
My daughter has a lake house in Wisconsin. They have the cutest squirrels there...they call them Fairy Diddles. They look much like the one in your vintage print. They are very rascally and almost flying. I've always loved squirrels and forgive them if they do a little damage once in a while. I once climbed a Maple tree to put a squirrel back in the hole in the tree, where the nest was.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing all your squirrels.
Balisha
I love the name Fairy Diddles! They are actually Eastern Red Squirrels. We have them here in our yard, they are smaller than the gray ones, but twice as feisty!! I love to hear them chatter and talk, they especially like to scold our cats!
DeleteWe used to get squirrels in our last garden, but sadly, there are none here (or none that I’ve seen!) I love all your squirrely things. I’m just off to your Etsy shop for a nosy or should I say squirrel around!
ReplyDeleteLove the squirrel sweater! I particularly like the little red squirrels we get here...such loud, brazen, industrious critters!
ReplyDeleteWhat cute little squirrels. I found a nut dish exactly like in that first picture a few years ago, and gave it to my sister. She already had a bit of an oak leaf/acorn collection going on, so nuts and squirrels fit right in. :-)
