We Need A Little Christmas . . .

Vintage Christmas that is, something to take us back to a more innocent time or maybe it just seemed that way. Nevertheless, let's go back, back in time and check out some vintage finds from the 1950's and 60's.

Here is a Santa Candy container made in Germany I found at the flea market last summer. Unfortunately we could not locate the bottom portion, for the time being he nestles in a 'snow' filled glass. I love the red Coconut glitter on his hat and body.

The vintage color and patina of these old glass ornaments are so pretty.

Here is another version of a Santa Candy Container with Coconut trim - Compo, Germany.

I found the pristine Snowman ornament (above) online, it is the same as mine (below).
These are the only two ornaments I still have from my childhood and I cherish them both. I think the top of my ornament was broken at some point, see how the stem is shorter than the one in the other photo.

This is a beautiful display of vintage collectibles in the kitchen.

Vintage Lefton Merry Christmas Candy Cane With Angels

These little angels are just so darling!

I hope you've enjoyed this little trip back in time.
It is starting to look a lot more like Christmas!

  1. These are lovely, Diane. Sadly, I have no baubles from my childhood, but I absolutely love them. I look for new ones no matter where I am all through the year. I even make some from little items that just look pretty. There's no stopping me!

  2. Great collection! I have a few old glass ornaments tucked away from my childhood that I look at every once in a while. I don't put them on the tree anymore because they're fragile and kinda shabby now. But nothing transports me back to the late 1950s-early 1960s like looking at those ornaments. I also still use the original "Christmas box" my Mom used to store our Xmas treasures in. It's old and stained, but still sturdy. It means "Christmas" to me.

  3. So pretty! I love that snowman ornament. A lot of these remind me of the ornaments from my childhood. The ones today aren't nearly as beautiful - most of them are just plastic, which is really sad.

  4. I remember so many of these cuties in my home growing up. I don't even know what happened to them, they 'disappeared'. Too sad for me. xo

  5. Love all the pictures ... my daughter especially loves the vintage ornaments ... we actually have some from my parents which makes them ancient. Those trees gave me an idea and I think I'll look into creating some myself to sell at my etsy shop next Autumn ... Oh, and I just saw a show in the tv which highlight all the Christmas shops that they have in Germany ... they are all over the place and very magical.

    Happiness always,
    Jan

  7. Dear Diane - I think we may be of the same vintage because many of these ornaments and decorations look familiar (that tells my age - lol) Thanks for brightening my day as always. Have a good day.

  9. A beautiful collection! I love old glass ornaments; they bring back so many memories. But I don't hang anything glass anymore on the tree because of my cats. I'd hate for one of them to knock one down and get glass in the paw, or some such horrible thing.

Yes, we certainly need a little Christmas to remind us of the good things!
