It's Not You, It's Me... Actually It IS You!

Now that spring/summer is here. Not to complain, but 78 degrees in Minnesota in March...Really? Anyway after roasting in fleece for a day, I decided to unpack my summer clothes. Since I do not have closets big enough to accommodate a huge wardrobe, the winter sweaters, winter fleece ( not to be confused with Minnesota summer fleece) had to be packed away. While going through my closets I decided it was time to make a clean break.

I am sorry puffy hangers, but I have no room in my life, err... closets for you anymore. I have moved on to someone who is slimmer, sleeker and just all around better than you.

Goodbye old puffy hangers.

These new faux suede or "velvet flocked"  hangers are my new love! They are slim, pretty and treat my clothes so well. Where have you been all my life! I first bought a few last year a bit timid and not sure how I felt about them. Now I must confess I am in love! I now buy them whenever I find a good sale and have been replacing my old nasty metal and plastic hangers (and now the puffy ones). My clothes are much neater and my closets much roomier! So goodbye puffy hangers, off to the charity box you go.

Does anyone out there have any great spring cleaning tips that have made your life better? Please share with us!

  1. I do the same thing here, switch out our seasonal clothes. It almost make me feel like I've gone shopping twice a year. lol

  2. I really like the "Space Bags" that squash items into a small space. (You vacuum out the air from the bag). You save a lot of space, and the clothes and blankets come out just fine (although wrinkled).

    1. I had the old kind that were flat and they were OK. I see they came out with new ones that are like "cubes" so they stack better.

  3. Ha ha .... so cute! I love your new hangers. I wish I could find something similar. Every time I'm out shopping, I take a look at the hangers in the store hoping, always hoping, that I'll find something like the ones in your post *sigh*. My favourite spring cleaning trick is to box and bag a whole bunch of clothing/items we don't use and donate it all! You can't imagine how much cleaner the house becomes :)

    1. Debra - I looked them up online and they call them "velvet flocked" hangers. Anyway, they are nice because your clothes won't slip off. Great for those V-neck shirts or slippery fabrics.

    2. I found mine at Costco and Target.

  5. I have some of these and love them - I especially like that silky tops don't slip off them. I'm also slowly replacing my old ones out. I also switch out my clothes from season to season, cluding purses, shoes, scarves and jewellery - I find it makes getting dressed so much easier and it's fun to pull it all out again.

  6. I like the new hangers - more practical than the padded ones. I put a load of stuff in a bag/box and if I can't remember what's in that container after a week? Off it goes!

  8. Aw - I felt so sorry for your old hangers - they still look so pretty and fresh in their own way. The new ones are lovely though - what a clever idea!

  9. LOL about Minnesota summer fleece. So true, so true! I have soft spot for those puffy hangers, but they really have no place (or space!) in my closet either. Those sleek new hangers look pretty darn handy!

  10. I really like those hangers. I get so tired of things slipping off the plastic ones, these would be perfect. I will be looking for them.

So far we haven't had any weather warm enough to worry about unpacking the summer clothes. Maybe in another couple of weeks.
